A clear picture for a crucial element of Bowen’s tourism and maritime operations will be provided under an LNP-elected state government.
The LNP has announced that if elected, a masterplan would be prepared to provide a long-awaited, clear picture for the future of Bowen’s Marina and foreshore precinct including the 150-year-old jetty.
LNP candidate for Burdekin Dale Last MP said the $400,000 commitment would ensure Bowen’s tourism and maritime operators that rely on the marina and the historic jetty had the opportunity to have their say on a clear way forward for the precinct.
“The LNP will restore respect for your money, delivering projects on time and on budget, with the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future,” Mr Last said.
“Despite calls from this community, Labor have left the Bowen Marina precinct all at sea with no clear future for more than a decade and in the meantime small businesses have been left in limbo.”
“The current government has made a long list of commitments but none of them have come to fruition. All the while, Bowen has been missing out of the economic benefits that will come from the potential of the precinct being realised.”
“The marina precinct and foreshore are a jewel in Bowen’s crown for residents and visitors alike. A masterplan process including proper consultation is absolutely essential to ensuring that, from all perspectives, we create an area that is beneficial to all sectors of the community.”
"Time's up for Labor’s expensive failures which have overseen $20 billion-plus in project cost blowouts, that could have instead delivered local infrastructure like a masterplan for the Marine precinct.”
Mr Last said Queenslanders could vote for the masterplan for the Bowen Marina and foreshore precinct and a government focused on driving down cost pressures, by voting LNP at this election.
“This masterplan is about providing surety for family businesses who have operated at the Bowne Marina for decades while honouring a piece of Bowen’s history for future tourists to enjoy,” Mr Last said.
“Queenslanders must show Labor the door in 2024, to restore respect for their money,” Mr Last said.
“Only the LNP stands ready to deliver a fresh start for Queensland.”
