Additional frontline resources delivered for Bowen with a new Mercedes 519 Non-Urgent Patient Transport Service (PTS) Van (Dual Stretcher) ambulance vehicle at Bowen Station.
The $282,000 state-of-the-art vehicle will help provide world-class care.
The Crisafulli Government has delivered additional emergency pre-hospital care resources for Bowen, with a new Mercedes 519 Non-Urgent Patient Transport Service (PTS) Van (Dual Stretcher) ambulance vehicle at Bowen QAS Station.
The state-of-the-art ambulance vehicle will help provide world-class care to the community.
The $282,000 vehicle includes several practical features to provide ambulance officers with the ideal platform to provide non-urgent patient transport services to Bowen patients.
Member for Burdekin Dale Last said this addition was vital to maintaining a strong, well-functioning health system in Bowen.
“The Crisafulli Government is committed to delivering a world-class health system for all Queenslanders, no matter where they live. Part of that commitment is giving our ambulance officers the resources they need to do their jobs safely,” Mr Last said.
“In Bowen our QAS plays a vital role in transporting more acute patients to larger, referring hospitals, which is why we have ensured they have a state-of-the-art vehicle to meet the needs of our officers and patients.”
Mr Last said Queensland Ambulance Service vehicles travel more than 47 million kilometers per year and this new vehicle would make every journey more comfortable for patients and officers.
“Bowen has a high demand patient transport environment with QAS often tasked to transfer patients to and from the Bowen Hospital, sometimes multiple times a day. The new ambulance vehicle has been fitted with an additional video display of the patient area for the driver of the vehicle, improving visibility and patient safety.”
The vehicle has two powered stretchers and loading systems allowing for two stretchered patients and up to four walking patients. The vehicle also boasts a refrigerated compartment for maintaining patient medication at the correct temperature. It also has an additional video display of the patient compartment for the driver of the vehicle.
